Background

A 57,154 m² flexible fly-ash containment cell with double-HDPE liner — SENEVEN deployed its long-term online leak-monitoring system to deliver real-time integrity surveillance during operation.

Challenge

Harsh fly-ash operating conditions demand long-term reliability and pinpoint accuracy from the monitoring grid, and a robust algorithmic distinction between genuine leaks and environmental noise.

Solution

1,565 sensing electrodes on a 6 × 6 m grid with 52 powering electrodes above and 52 below the liner, paired with cloud data processing and automatic-alert algorithms — delivering 24/7 real-time monitoring and coordinate-level leak localization.

Results

Verification by deliberate puncture: system raised an accurate alert and pinpointed the defect

Closed-loop validation from data acquisition through localization to in-situ excavation

Confirmed long-term effectiveness and sub-metre localization accuracy

Provides reliable assurance for cell operations and groundwater protection
